You’re probably here because you have planned or are planning a trip to Punta Cana. This blog is designed to help assist you with your travels so that you are well acquainted with what to expect.

Punta Cana is located on the eastern most part of the Dominican Republic. Best known for it’s 20 mile stretch of white powdery sand beaches, crystal clear waters and lavish all-inclusive resorts it’s no wonder Punta Cana sees over 4 million visitors annually (one of the top vacation destinations in the Caribbean).

This is one of my favorite places to send people who are looking “to just getaway” and want a scenic beach views and water adventures. All inclusive resorts range from budget to luxury. Punta Cana has it all. Typically you can find direct flights out of any major airport (including ORD & MSP)which makes is a great location for a long weekend.

Quick Facts:
-Main Language spoken: Spanish (most people do NOT speak English)
-Currency: Dominican Peso. American currency is widely accepted.
-Electricity: Same Voltage as North America but the sockets are two-pronged
-Passport/Immigration: All travelers MUST have a valid passport when traveling to and from the Dominican Republic
-Drinking water: Avoid tap water. Be sure to drink filtered and bottled water.
-Average Annual Temperature is 77 degrees F (sunny and warm year round)
-Peak Traveling Season: February & July-August
-Capital City: Santo Domingo
-The Dominican Republic is the second largest country in the Caribbean and shares the island with Haiti
-90% of the hotels in Punta Cana are All-Inclusive resorts which allow you to relax and enjoy your time when you get there (you won’t need to be pulling out your wallet constantly because all food and drink are included!)
-Food at All Inclusive’s isn’t usually gourmet and can sometimes be different than what you may be use to
-Rooms can be damp–you are in the tropics
-Be sure to wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water as the sun is HOT HOT HOT

Beach Info:
Whatever type of beach you are looking for, Punta Cana is sure to impress.
-If you’re a surf enthusiast, you may want to head to Macao Beach in the northern area
-Families with kiddos typically prefer staying near Arena Gorda Beach where the water is more shallow and calmer
-Bavaro Beach is arguably the most scenic area but can be crowded

-ZIPLINE ADVENTURE
After a drive onboard an open-air safari truck, you will be entering a whole new dimension of entertainment. Our expert zipline guides will teach you all you need to know about the ride and the equipment. You will be transferred to the Welcome Center, where a safety briefing will be conducted. From there, you will walk along one of the property’s roads and garden trails for about 5 minutes, until reaching the first platform, and be ready to face the challenge of “flying” from one platform to another. You will be safely attached with climbing gear to the cables with the longest one being 900 meters (2593 feet) long! Your tour consists of 15 platforms and 12 ziplines stretched across the length of the mountain range throughout 1 mile. Our zipline tour was built with steel cables, traversing system on a steel pulley with a manual breaking system only when needed. Most cables are calibrated with its necessary speed to fly and enjoy. At the end of the tour, fresh fruits will be served and you will have adequate time to purchase a special souvenir of this unique adventure.
“Fly” from one platform to another and swing through the air with a privileged bird’s-eye view of the lush scenery. Leaving Punta Cana behind, you’ll travel through the Dominican Republic’s scenic countryside on your way towards Anumaya.
